Meet, David, Diane, and their nine year-old daughter Kimberly. They are a family living in a world gone insane. It is a world that has been brought to its knees by both a virus originally meant to be used as a biological weapon by the Chinese military that has gotten loose and long suppressed race relations that are tearing apart their country on a daily basis where no statue is safe, all of it started by a criminal complaining that he couldn't breathe while resisting arrest, the entire experience being utilized to fit a political narrative. The result of all of this is a ravaged economy, rampant unemployment, and people living in fear as they watch countless cities turned into fire and ash by angry protestors. It is a world where shopping at your neighborhood grocery store is literally a life or death situation where people will fight to the last breath over a roll of toilet paper or a roasted chicken, a world where being homeless and walking the streets is a criminal offense and offenders will be shot on sight, a world where people dispose of their handicapped relatives because they have become too much of a burden to deal with and this is considered acceptable. This is a world where the governor of Nevada decides to take matters into his own hands by shooting people who are not social distancing and wearing a mask. All of this is happening at a time during the worst presidential election in history between two completely unqualified candidates, one of them a pompous egomaniac with no political experience at all and the other a senile pedophile who has spent his entire life as a faceless government ghost. While their country is being upended by both a virus and angry people filled with entitlement and demanding reparations while destroying the very country that they live in, they must all deal with their own demons that have been brought to light and face them as a family. In a country that has almost completely fallen apart all they have is each other.
